This chapter discusses part modeling at the levels of Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) and Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP), and most of the examples are similar to the materials that are covered in the CSWA and CSWP examinations. It deals with the modeling of parts that are used in an assembly modeling. There are two differences between advanced part modeling and part modeling: the complexity of the sketches that are involved and the number of dimensions and geometric relations and increased number of features. This means that the modeler has to be able to deal with a significant amount of information in order to complete an advanced part modeling. Characteristic of CSWA exam questions, care should be taken to locate the origin of the part, applying the material properties, and retrieving the mass properties. Creating reference axes to match those in the problem statement is essential when retrieving the center of mass of the models.
