      ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the steps that are involved in using SolidWorks software for the design parts that are bounded by equation-driven curves. The results for known functions show that the areas and volumes obtained using SolidWorks agree with those that are obtained using basic integral methods in mathematics. The chapter shows that SolidWorks is a useful design tool that automatically computes the areas and volumes of parts being designed by a designer. It also shows that using SolidWorks to determine the areas and volumes of objects is extremely useful in engineering because these parameters may be required for estimating the costs that are involved in manufactured parts. SolidWorks uses sketch entities such as line, rectangle, parallelogram, slot, polygon, circle, arc, ellipse, parabola, spline as the foundational building blocks for defining three-dimensional objects. The chapter explains the integral calculus solution and then follow the methodology to present the SolidWorks solution.
