      ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with part and assembly drawing and describes the steps that are involved in inserting half-, offset-, and aligned-section views to drawings, which are enhancements in the version of SolidWorks. It explores the American Society of Mechanical Engineers standards for views, drawings, and dimensions are used. The chapter discusses first-angle projection and third-angle projection, the third-angle projection is used since this is the standard that is mainly used in North America. First-angle projection is the International Organization for Standardization standard and is primarily used in Europe. The three-dimensional part is projected into a two-dimensional paper space as if one is looking at an x-ray of the object in which the top view is under the front view and the right view is at the left of the front view. Third-angle projection is primarily used in the United States and Canada, where it is the default projection system according to the BS 8888.
