ABSTRACT

A 4-day-old full-term neonate is seen in the pediatric dermatology clinic for a spreading rash. The patient’s mother states the skin changes started just after bringing him home from the hospital. His mother does note that the spots she initially observed on day 1 of the rash have subsequently resolved, but have been replaced by numerous new spots. The infant is otherwise healthy and the areas do not seem to be itchy or painful. On examination, there are numerous splotchy red macules with central yellow or white pustules (79).
