ABSTRACT

W hen you start out writing, you are usually blind to most of your faults. Initially, you perceive that any negative feedback w hich you receive m eans that people do not understand w hat you are trying to say, or that they have not bothered to read all of your report or article. As you spend hours sweating over an overheated keyboard, you realise that you have a lot to learn if you are to em ulate other people w ho seemingly write quickly and succinctly and w ith ease. You face up to the choice you have to make. You could carry on in a low-key am ateurish way churning out the occasional report or article that publishers desperate for copy will accept. Or you could m aster the technique of writing for the particular field and target readers w ith w hom you w ant to com m unicate. So how can you do the latter?
