ABSTRACT
This chapter describes about a supervision session provided by Nicola to Mark. Nicola had already been talking about another client to her supervisor, Mark. But she wanted to talk about Barbara and her reactions to what was happening for her client. She knew how important it was to use supervision to ensure that she was being authentically present, that she was able to genuinely offer empathic responses that were clear and focused on what the client was saying, experiencing and communicating. There is an evolutionary tendency towards greater order, greater complexity, greater inter relatedness. In humankind, this tendency exhibits itself as the individual moves from a single cell origin to complex organic functioning, to knowing and sensing below the level of consciousness, to a conscious awareness of the organism and the external world to a transcendent awareness of the harmony and unity of the cosmic system, including mankind.
