ABSTRACT

Our frames (beliefs, values, attitudes etc.) permeate our entire neurology. They are like a default mode, which is set to respond in a typical fashion, over and over again. Depression is a case in point. Not only do long-term sufferers see their world through the frames of negative automatic thoughts, their very bodily biochemistry (cortisol levels, etc.) is adversely affected too. In a sense, frames not only have a signature thinking style, they also give rise to a signature physiology and to signature behaviours.
