ABSTRACT

Diagnosis is delayed in cases of nodular malignant melanoma of the glans penis due to the rarity of the disease and a frequent reluctance of patients to present their symptoms to a physician. The choice of treatment may depend on the stage of the cancer. Surgical removal of affected tissue is necessary, including lymph nodes. Erythroplasia of Queyrat – also called Bowen's disease of the glans penis – is a squamous cell carcinoma of the glans penis and prepuce in uncircumcised, middle-aged, men. This condition was first described by Tarnovsky in 1891 and elaborated on by Queyrat in 1911, but only recognised as a carcinoma in 1933 by Sulzberger and Satenstein. Vulval carcinoma is a rare invasive malignancy – comprising only 5% of all gynaecological cancer cases – that affects the vulva of female genitalia. Nodular malignant melanoma of the glans penis is a rare cancer that usually affects men. Even among penile cancers, this is a rare condition.
