ABSTRACT
This chapter provides information about health-related Acts of Parliament including Statutory Instruments (SIs), Health Service Circulars (HSC), Executive Letters (EL), Reports, Inquiries, Green Papers, White Papers, Codes of Practice and other Guidance Notes and publications issued by various bodies such as the General Medical Council (GMC), medical royal colleges. It discusses health-related and other useful Acts of Parliament including Statutory Instruments, health circulars, and guidance notes on codes and best practice, and government-inspired reports and inquiries. The chapter aims to eliminate racial discrimination and to remedy individual grievances. It makes unlawful direct or indirect discrimination on the grounds of race, ethnicity or nationality in the fields of, for example, employment, education or housing. The chapter provides regulations for functions of Care Trusts under partnership arrangements. It describes a framework for equal opportunities in the NHS. It sets out how increased funding and reform are aimed to redress geographical inequalities, improve service standards and extend patient choice.
