ABSTRACT

Introduction The joining together of individuals to share knowledge and experiences has been recognised as an essential part of professional education for many years. However, most professionals are busy people, with the result that there are limited opportunities to meet face-to-face. In addition, many professionals are widely geographically dispersed. Despite these difficulties, there is an increasing need to share professional knowledge in the present complex world of healthcare. The growth of information and communications technology (ICT) can provide new possibilities.
