ABSTRACT

Introduction A useful definition of research is that it is involves the systematic investigation of the subject under study. Often, the researcher, in undertaking the investigation, aims to both learn more about the subject and evaluate aspects of it. The words 'systematic', 'investigation' and 'evaluation' indicate a degree of orderliness, thoroughness and critique that frame an enquiry. These descriptors emphasise that the work has followed a carefully thought out design, approach to collecting evidence, analysis and reporting.
