ABSTRACT

This chapter examines different perspectives that shape our understanding of the value of the interdependence of global health - as a threat to national interests and security, as a basic hum an right, as a global public good and as a product of globalisation. In each case the implications for international policy and action are explored by m eans of a specific country case study. The case studies examine how the value of interdependence in global health can be reconciled with o ther elem ents of aid, trade and foreign policy as well as o ther values for health.
