ABSTRACT
As with other areas of healthcare, good occupational health practice requires a sound basis in research. Many occupational health practitioners are involved at some stage in their careers in the collection or analysis of data for research purposes. And all have an ethical obligation to ensure that, in so far as it is practical, the advice that they give accords with the best available scientific evidence.
