ABSTRACT
In this chapter we will briefly present and comment on a few selected codes and guidance documents on professional ethics for health personnel, with a particular view to occupational health. The relationship between ethical theory and codes of practice is complex. The former deals with many abstract concepts while the latter tries to convey rules of behaviour. As legislators will readily agree, writing explicit rules is difficult, as small changes in circumstances often change the outcome dramatically.
