ABSTRACT

This chapter describes how to enter data into an Excel sheet; copy and move data within the sheet; use the autofill to copy formulae and save work; use pre-defined functions, and the autosum facility; format: data types, fonts, presentation; save and print the sheet; and produce simple graphs. It provides a way of introducing basic concepts. Excel often produces a chart that is very pretty, but not strictly accurate. There are nearly always at least two ways to do things in Excel. We can change many other aspects of presentation either from the tool bars or from a shortcut menu or from Format menu. Most of the formatting option toolbar buttons appear on the formatting toolbar below the main toolbar. There are many formatting features for dealing with numbers in Excel.
