ABSTRACT
This chapter describes how to access external data sources and compile Excel sheets from external data sources. It also tells how to compare performance with national data and work out where it is relative to other bodies. The chapter shows how to download data from the internet. Much of the data collected by the NHS are made available by the NHS Executive on their website. This allows individual NHS organisations to compare their performance with their peers. This chapter has an Excel book derived from the national data, it is used to compare performance with those of our trust. In order to establish relative performance, the chapter adopts a strategy which can be applied to any of the indicators. The chapter compares performance of NHS trust against national performance data.
