ABSTRACT

Today’s media are on the whole very interested in health topics, and new medical developments and local or national medical disasters quickly make the headlines of newspapers and television programmes. Although it is unlikely that a journalist will ever select you for an interview, it may not be such a remote possibility in the case of a local event involving your practice or one of your patients. As you are likely to be inexperienced in talking to journalists, this can be potentially very embarrassing and may cause you sleepless nights. There may also be a small risk that you accidentally provide information that you should have handled more sensitively.
