ABSTRACT

Electronic records make each part of the information open to different levels of access, supplement information that is not easily available by other means, and can be consulted remotely across large distances. Implementing a change based on research evidence can be a useful learning experience and can demonstrate to a team or organisation the importance of accessing, assessing and using information. The lack of access to computers connected to each other or to the Internet can be a physical barrier or due to a lack of skill in accessing the information available. The information has to be taken in context and judged for its relevance to the wider world. The establishment of a computer-assisted learning centre that is networked on an intranet so that services such as research information, textbook and training information are available to all staff from any terminal. Sources of information are changing all the time.
