ABSTRACT

Subsequently, the government's 1998 White Paper The NHS: a first class service highlighted the fact that lifelong learning is vital to the establishment of a modem health service of the highest quality. This was followed by two more papers, Making a Difference and Supporting Doctors, Protecting Patients, which confirmed the govern ment's agenda, supporting continuing education for all health professionals. These papers also reiterate that doctors are going to have to go through a process of reaccreditation in order to continue to practice.
