ABSTRACT

The purpose of calling 911 during a critical event is to get medical help to victims as quickly as possible. Therefore, most innocent callers in the 911 study focused on the victims throughout the 911 calls, demanding help for them, offering relevant details to the dispatchers, and aiding the victims with CPR and other medical assistance. The guilty callers were often more focused on their own problems than on the victims’ conditions. Some guilty callers repeatedly mentioned open doors or disheveled rooms, thus focusing on false intruders rather than on the needs of the victims.
