ABSTRACT

Many innocent callers in the 911 study found it difficult to mentally process the circumstances of sudden deaths. They instinctively refused to accept the deaths, particularly the deaths of relatives or friends. Even when it was obvious that the victims had been deceased for some time, some innocent callers were unable to verbalize the word “dead.”
