Prestressing systems used in the manufacture of prestressed concrete have developed over the years, mainly through research and development by specialist companies associated with the design and execution of prestressed concrete structures. These companies are often involved in other associated works, including soil and rock anchors, lifting of heavy structures, cablestayed bridges and suspension bridges that require specialist expertise and patented materials, equipment and design.
