ABSTRACT
Networking is also important within professional emergency management circles including attending workshops, training, and conferences. Organizations such as the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) provide opportunities to network as well as to work toward program accreditation and professional certification. Certification confirms that individuals meet specific experience, training, and educational requirements through a process of testing and documentation. As individuals and programs garner these credentials, salaries and respect for emergency managers will likely increase.
