ABSTRACT

This chapter explains the various personalities in an organization that can contribute and participate in improving and maintaining security. It examines ways that those various personalities can be exploited for the sake of security and how their talents and personalities can be fostered and leveraged to improve security and support the security culture. The chapter explains issues with the effectiveness and cost of past organizational change models and efforts, and different ways employees can contribute to security by leading, evangelizing, being vigilant, or properly performing their security-related duties and monitoring how other people perform their security-related duties. It reviews various tactics that can be used to improve employee participation in security efforts at a level that they feel comfortable and at a level that they can constructively contribute. The chapter also explains how the personal tendencies of different types of employees can be reinforced and further developed to improve security efforts.
