ABSTRACT

The evasive response provides the officer the opportunity to not only move away from the threat but also to place himself in a good position to take control of the subject. The technique though is one where the officer will actually move close to the attack as it is coming in but around it-just like two ships passing each other. The attack goes in one direction, while the officer moves alongside it. This vantage point gives the officer an excellent position to gain control and apply a takedown technique to gain compliance.
