ABSTRACT

As can be ascertained from these tables, for the year 2014, 50% of all suicides were firearm related, whereas only 0.43% of unintentional deaths were firearm related. For youths, 41% of suicides were firearm related, but only 1.4% of unintentional deaths were due to firearms. These data suggest that, although firearms are used very frequently in suicides, they are not a very significant factor in accidental deaths.
