ABSTRACT
Care is required to ensure that inappropriate natural lighting and/or poor control does not give rise to thermal discomfort, and increase the need for compensatory heating or cooling. Window openings are expensive, and life-cycle cost, environmental, quality and amenity benefits need to be communicated to clients. Good control is absolutely essential if cost benefits are to be achieved.
