ABSTRACT

A task analysis of the task(s) and system under analysis is the next logical step after the data collection process. Specific data are used to conduct a task analysis, allowing the task to be described in terms of the individual task steps required, the technology used in completing the task (controls, displays, etc.), and the sequence of the task steps involved. The task description offered by task analysis techniques is then typically used as the input to further analysis techniques, such as human error identification (HEI) techniques and process charting techniques.
