ABSTRACT

This study presents flexural indentation tests of porcine pericardial tissue, which have been conducted on the MTS Insight 10 static testing machine. Indentation test is a different approach as compared to the uniaxial tensile test. The material is stiffer, its behavior depends on the method of fixing the material and the loads are multiaxial. The conditions are more similar to the physiological behavior of aortic heart valve leaflets. The aim of this paper is to compare the results of experimental and numerical studies of flexural indentation and to find relations between indentation loads and constitutive parameters of materials.
