ABSTRACT

Audio, video, and animation are introduced together because they are dynamic media, which are media that change continuously with time. These media are generally added to a Web page by using similar principles. This chapter presents the various methods and elements used to add them to a Web page. In order to be able to use audio effectively in Web design, several factors need to be considered, including appropriateness of use, file format compatibility, quality, and size of file. Video is commonly delivered on a Web page by using hosted video services or adding it to a Web page, each of which has advantages and disadvantages in terms of the ease with which they can be achieved and the flexibility that they offer. The file format of an animation piece largely determines the types of HyperText Markup Language (HTML) elements that can be used to add it to a Web page.
