ABSTRACT

A web designer's role needs to go beyond creating a series of linked online documents. Learning animation skills and principles help bring content and graphical user interfaces to life. This chapter explores how to translate motion principles into digital design projects to enhance the overall user experience. It describes several motion principles and how they can translate to digital design. The chapter discusses the benefits of incorporating motion into a User Interface (UI) design. In UI motion design, squash and stretch is used to provide feedback when a button is clicked, tapped, or hovered over. The chapter also describes simulating depth using parallax movement. It aims to build a web page that incorporates parallax scrolling. Transforms actually manipulate HTML objects, such as divs and images. Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) can be used to transform these elements in both two- and three-dimensional space.
