ABSTRACT
In the morning, the expert centre receives a phone call from an onshore rig team experiencing loss of drilling fluid. One of the members in the expert centre observes that a very similar well was drilled some weeks before, in close proximity to the well under consideration. That work was performed by the same drilling rig, and they had suffered mud losses similar to those under investigation. Another member of the team, responsible for facilitating access to real-time and historical data to the rest of the team, retrieves the relevant data for the event from a real-time data web portal. The expert centre opens a video conference with the onshore rig team’s geologists, who are located in another city, in order to discuss the geological properties of the formation and what interactions might be possible between the formation and the mud.
