ABSTRACT

Writing longhand will help students memorise better what students have read. When writing longhand, students are forced to slow down unless, of course, students are faster at writing by hand than students are at typing. And that is precisely where style hides in writing. Emulating to the way in which other writers render specific facets of scientific academic writing is especially helpful to develop students' own style and hone students' skill set. For most PhD students, writing a Literature Review is one of the earliest tasks they face when it comes to writing. Keep a clear writing direction: whenever student struggle to write, take that as an indication that student may have to do some more work to create a detailed plan of action. After all, good academic writing is an art and like any other form of art it takes time to master.
