ABSTRACT

Glossaries and lists of acronyms are seldom used in scientific papers or theses. However, for very technical subjects, it may prove helpful to the reader to include, at the beginning of the thesis, a brief glossary to carefully explain or define key terms used throughout the work. For very technical subjects that make extensive use of technical terms and acronyms, consider including a brief glossary or a list of acronyms for ease of reference. For any new technical term that students encounter when reading the literature, put an entry in students’ rubric with a brief explanation of its meaning. Titles are among the most important elements of academic theses or research papers. Crafting good titles is crucial to signal what kind of content students’ reader can expect to find in students’ PhD thesis or research paper. Titles should indicate the nature and purpose of students’ study.
