ABSTRACT
The EU implemented a Regional Solar Program by installing a large number of solar water-pumping systems. The stealing of present value (PV)modules indicated that there was a great need to provide electricity for other purposes, too. Most likely, the stolen PV modules were used for lighting and powering radios or TV receivers. Pump manufacturers developed their "solar pump" lines. Some of the pump manufacturers switched their entire production to manufacture only solar pumps. Solar pumps can now directly be connected to PV module systems. At present, two types of solar pumps are available: "submergible pumps" and "surface pumps." Water pumping using solar electricity is now and for the future extremely important for Africa and the Middle East. The region in C and part of D receives rainwater and has many large lakes and rivers sufficient for people, animals, and farming.
