ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses the on-treatment imaging protocol. An imaging protocol should be the full instructions and guidance document containing the what, why, and how of all imaging to be performed in the radiotherapy department. There are many points to consider when deciding on a suitable imaging training process, especially in a large radiotherapy department. The use of an assessment for staff following each point of imaging training will obviously cause an issue regarding fails. Imaging training for students within the radiotherapy department can cause debate. The involvement of students in image analysis must be carefully decided upon in conjunction with both academic and clinical training sites. Delivering imaging training in an academic setting will have to take place on a training database. A common compromise is the delivery of imaging theory sessions in the academic institution to give students an understanding of the importance of on-treatment imaging, while observational training occurs whilst the student is in the clinical setting.
