ABSTRACT
Madsen, Krenk, & Lind (1986) consider combined loading in an analytical approach by analyzing processes that may achieve maximum values at different times. Such an approach makes use of Rice’s level-crossing formula to approximate the mean out-crossing rate of a parametric curve by a load vector (Rice 1944). The issue with such formulations is that few closed-form solutions exist for out-crossing rates.
