ABSTRACT
This chapter is a question and answer style article that contains past FRCA paper examples related to neurosurgery, neuroradiology and neurocritical care. It also guides trainees on the most effective manner in which to approach these questions. The chapter presents the case study of 90-year-old woman sustains a fractured neck of femur following a fall. She is scheduled for surgery. The discussion covers the following: aspects of this patient's care will have the greatest impact on outcome; the recommendations made by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence for the management of acute pain in this patient; and causes of a fall in this patient might impact on the anaesthetic management.
