ABSTRACT
This chapter is a question and answer style article that contains past FRCA paper examples related to neurosurgery, neuroradiology and neurocritical care. It also guides trainees on the most effective manner in which to approach these questions. The discussion covers the following: a recent meta-analysis of studies of the utility of the Mallampati score in the prediction of a difficult airway found that it had a sensitivity 60% of and a specificity of 70%; meta-analysis and the factors that ensure a high-quality conclusion from the process; sensitivity and specificity as applied to the interpretation of the Mallampati data.
