ABSTRACT

This chapter is a question and answer style article that contains past FRCA paper examples related to neurosurgery, neuroradiology and neurocritical care. It also guides trainees on the most effective manner in which to approach these questions. The chapter presents a case study of 52-year-old woman who is to undergo laparotomy for ovarian malignancy having completed 3 cycles of primary chemotherapy. She has a BMI of 23 but massive ascites. The discussion covers the following: specific features of this case will affect the anaesthetist's approach to the preoperative (50%); intraoperative (25%) and postoperative management (25%) of this patient.
