ABSTRACT

Hyphenated NMR instruments include automated operation modes for sample collection and detection. Chapter 5 covers LC-NMR modes that include continuous flow, stop flow, loop collection, and solid-phase extraction. Liquid chromatography peaks of interest for transfer to an NMR probe or a solid-phase extraction cartridge require the use of detection systems such as UV, DAD, and MS. Discussion of these options is included. For flow methods, detection systems are critical in preserving NMR signal observation. In addition, DI-NMR (direct injection NMR) and FIA NMR (flow injection NMR) along with the emerging CE isolation in conjunction with micro-flow detection are explored.
