ABSTRACT
Chapter 2 comprises an elaborate discussion on the design and development of UWB antenna and considers various families of the antenna. The first part of the chapter focuses on a quick review of antenna parameters such as bandwidth, directivity, efficiency, gain, followed by additional parameters including group delay and fidelity which are exclusive requirements that characterize a UWB antenna. This is followed by a discussion exclusively on various classes of UWB antenna designs proposed by research groups over the last two decades. Various UWB antennas are compared which gives UWB antenna engineers a clear idea when selecting the antenna type for a desired application.
