ABSTRACT

This chapter investigates water flow on the surface of soil, generally known as overland flow. The contents cover three topics:

A fractional kinematic wave (fKW) model: This model has been introduced here for overland flow, with fractional derivatives in the equation of mass conservation. Solutions of this fKW model have been presented for special cases; asymptotic solutions have also been developed for this model.

Streamflow in catchment networks: This case has been represented by a topographically random channel-hillslope network for instantaneous unit hydrograph (IUH).

Anomalous infiltration: Anomalous infiltration into soils during surface irrigation has also been briefly discussed in this chapter.
