ABSTRACT

The even molecular mass (M+, m/z: 132) indicates that there is no nitrogen in the molecule (or at least not an odd number of nitrogen atoms). M +-1 peak is the base peak of the spectrum, so there is a hydrogen in the molecule that is lost very easily. It is known, for instance, that the loss of the acetylenic hydrogen causes a strong M-1 peak in the mass spectrum of terminal alkynes.
