Guidelines are provided in the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)'s Guidelines for Carcinogen Risk Assessment.. The plant has initiated a study to maximize process performance by optimizing the purging time of the operation. The atmosphere in many process vessels and tanks in chemical and petrochemical plants is maintained free of oxygen to avoid fire, explosion, and/or product deterioration. The usual objective of health risk assessment (HRA) and the accompanying calculations are to evaluate the potential for adverse health effects from the release of chemicals into the environment. Protein molecules range from the long, insoluble fibers that make up connective tissue and hair to the compact, soluble globules that can pass through cell membranes and set off metabolic reactions.
