ABSTRACT

Currently, bioengineering is considered one of the most promising areas of research. Therefore, it is quite natural that there is research aimed at the use of biomaterials in the development of humidity sensors. In this chapter, it is shown that there are several biomaterials that can be used in humidity sensors. They are proteins and peptides, namely сollagen, dopamine, and DNA-metal ion (Co2+ or Ni2+) biomatrixes. However, it should be noted that the prospects of biomaterial application in humidity sensors are very limited due to the necessity of the presence on the sensor market of devices with very high manufacturability and stability of parameters. Unfortunately, at the present moment, biomaterial-based humidity sensors do not meet these requirements.
