ABSTRACT

The consideration of the methods developed for synthesis of metal oxides aimed for humidity-sensor applications is the main task of this chapter. There is a description of wet-chemical methods of metal-oxide synthesis, such as co-precipitation, sonochemical, microemulsion and hydrothermal/solvothermal techniques, sol-gel processing, and the microwave‑assisted method. Techniques for gas-phase synthesis of nanocrystalline metal oxides, such as gas-processing condensation, chemical-vapor condensation, microwave-plasma processing, and combustion-flame synthesis, are also considered. Discussion of mechanical milling of powders that is the basis of the mechano-chemical method of metal-oxide synthesis is also included in the chapter.
