ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces Asset Management (AM) based on the motivation of making smart decisions for handling an infrastructure. It discusses the developments of the energy infrastructure of the electric power system and the increased need for investments, due to aging, expansion, or sustainable transition. It gives an outline of the book, which includes a number of case studies showing examples on the benefits of adopting systematic AM methods all from different electric power system examples, for example, distribution system, wind power, and high-voltage equipment.
