ABSTRACT

In Chapter 1, we investigated single-degree-of-freedom mechanical and electrical systems that ex-

hibit simple harmonic oscillation. The aim of this chapter is to extend this analysis to deal with

analogous multiple-degree-of-freedom systems. Of course, a single-degree-of-freedom system is

one that only requires a single coordinate to specify its instantaneous state, whereas a multiple-

degree-of-freedom system requires multiple coordinates.
