ABSTRACT
The multipurpose nature of ferrate(VI), pertaining to its remediation of emerging contaminants as well as micropollutants in surface water/groundwater, has received increasing amount of attention in terms of its eco-friendly and green approach. This chapter addresses the progress and potential of ferrate, which can be used as a green chemical for environmental remediation. At the outset, this chapter describes green chemistry and its environmental implications. The present chapter also discusses the chemical attributes of ferrate and the methods that can be used for its preparation. Moreover, an extensive literature review has been done to describe the eco-sustainable performance of ferrate in wastewater treatment and environmental remediation.
